Club Scrap Firecracker - oh yeah!

I love this time of year- only for the festivities, certainly not the Florida heat!  I have been spending the month celebrating the 4th through my crafts.  One of my first projects was scrappin' 30 year old pictures using the Club Scrap American Flag kit. I used the bonus Page Formula layout and it was a perfect  design for these vintage photos.

Another challenge was to create a card using Julie's technique for this month.  Off to the Dollar Store to buy colors that I would never see on my nails!  Here is my first attempt at the Nail Polish technique.

So I decided to use some colors that match the paper pack.  Interesting effect!

I created two cards with the different samples and I was pretty pleased with how they turned out. The first card is a shaker card and the background is the back of one of the above pieces.  I haven't made a shaker card in a long time so this was a fun change.

The next card was featuring another technique panel.  I tested out another panel with the embossing folder and decided it needed some bling.  I swiped a silver ink pad across the raised design and added the extra bling from the kit.  I love this card!

Sadly, I just ran out of time this month to finish another card I started so I hope to add it in a few days!    I hope you are inspired.  If not think about joining our Club Scrap group and get your mojo going!

Club Scrap Lavender Fields Linky Party

Some days life is not a bowl of cherries!  It is a bouquet of lavender! The month of May was quite hectic for me but I was able to create this pretty awesome card (IMHO) to celebrate one of my favorite herbs and essential oils.

I was also able to create a wreath of lavender following the technique featured by Jennifer McGuire here. I made my template from stencil plastic using my Pazzles digital cutter. It was a 4 inch square and then a copy of a 4 inch square rotated 45 degrees. I then welded the designs into one.  This is an easy design to create in any digital cutter program.  Why not give it a try?

Next I positioned it onto my Stampin' Up Stamparatus but a Misti will work as
well.

I wanted it to be straight so I added the grid paper from the Misti to make sure it was straight.

I then cut a 4 x 4 inch piece of paper and started stamping my design into a wreath using Club Scrap Amethyst ink pads - the perfect color for this design.

Notice my paper is rotated at 45 degrees. The idea is to rotate the paper by the shape of the template.  I hope that makes sense!  It does look weird at first but when you have rotated all of the paper it does create a circle.  I then cut the square down to 3 inches and added the purple mat to accent the digital background of the lavender fields paper pack. I added 'Congrats' and some twine and bling and viola! it was done.

The lavender background is the perfect setting for this card, but step back and a host of others are there to welcome this design.

This was actually a challenging technique but I was up for it! After multiple attempts, I will call this a success

Stop back soon for additional inspiration but more importantly - enjoy SPRING!

Shibori Share

The first of the month is always exciting when you are a Club Scrap digital member.  Bright and early ( and even on Sunday) I get a link to the digital content for the month.  This month was no exception.  I tend to print off the 8.5" x 11" pages of the designs so I can create a few cards within a few days.

Every month Club Scrap has a Linky party to share your artwork.  This month I decided to create a digital page for Luke's baby book. Of course he has a 'Grandma Onesie' but the hat is what dominates this photo!  A quick and easy layout is a perfect background for this photo.  I used the digital lettering from the Dungarees kit and it coordinated perfectly with this paper pack.

Consider the digital subscription- it is a bargain when you realize you can just print off the pages and cut them up to create.  You can find a link here to join the digital subscription.

Also please consider sharing your Shibori artwork with the rest of us on the Linky party here.

Dyed Tissue Paper

This month's technique at Club Scrap was an addictive one, that's for sure! I really got involved with it and was covered in blue ink for a few days.  You can find the step by step directions with Julie here.

I have different colors of ink and varying amounts of rubbing alcohol to get the following results.

I tried to come up with the perfect card for the dyed tissue paper and my first attempt was to create a tissue paper flower.  I tore a long strip and then folded the strip accordion style to make a circular flower.  I used the Card Sketch for April Challenge to make this Happy Birthday card.

You may notice that I used some scraps leftover from my cards from the previous post.  I seldom throw scraps away but use them in another project.

Attempting to create a design for another Club Scrap challenge was rough.  We had to used a circle cutter - not punches, dies, digital cutter etc.  Having sold all of my CM round and oval cutters, I found a template that I used t cut circles with in my sewing stash.
The problem was I had to fold the paper into quarters for a circle, so I decided to used the dyed tissue paper because folding paper would leave creases in my circles.  I used the same sketch and scraps from my Birds of a Feather paper pack for this card.

Finally in order to participate in the Technique Linky Party, I had to come up with a third way to used my dyed tissue paper.  Finding a half started note card box was a bonus because it became the perfect canvas for my dyed tissue paper fan.

Here are the cards that can be found with the box.

I will post the individual cards in another post as this is getting to be a long one.
I hope you are inspired to give this technique a try!

I LOVE everything about Shibori!

If you are a fan a fabric dyeing or anything blue, you will love this month's kit Shibori.

I started with a technique that was posted on Hetty's blog here. Since I have been crafting now for almost 20 years, I have doodled in my life more than once. :)  what caught my eye was the background paper she created on these cards and I worked hard to try and recreate them.

Using my Brusho Prussian Blue from Stampin' Up, I splattered the paper and spritzed it with water.

I then added the stamped images from the set using Night of Navy and the retiring Dapper Denim inks.

I was pretty pleased with my final design.  Now it was time to cut it up!

Club Scrap just released Idea Deck 5 in a digital format and you can find the post here.  I love everything digital as it sure does eliminate the clutter and is so much easier to find!  But I do like to print them off as I use them.

For this month's challenge, I used the 2 of Hearts, a card design and created a few cards with the formula.

I added accents with some white Close to My Heart brads and swirls, washi tape and a key from the G2G Lock and Key.  I did have fun but it has taken me days to wash the blue ink from my hands!  Oh well- the hazards of a creative mind.

Spring is on it's way?

The month of March has been an especially brutal one for weather.  Even in the Sunshine State, we have had very cool March days.  The Daffodils collection is this month's Club Scrap paper kit and it  screams "Spring!".

To celebrate the first day of Spring I created this Scatter card using the Club Scrap Daffodils coordinating stamp set. I found the idea on a Stampin Up web site and I am sure you can find it as well.

I created a cut file in the Cricut Design Space software since I don't have a circular thin cut or a 3" circle punch.  It is a pretty basic card that you can create in any digital cutter software.

I then stamped using the scatter image around the circle using SU YoYo Yellow, Crushed Curry and Club Scrap Leaf. (Stamp on a scrap piece of paper) Then I drew a rough circle  and stamped the daffodils in the center of the circle.  I used the inks and a blender pen to color the design.  I glued the top scatter circle onto the daffodils base and added the Close to My Heart retired Olive ribbon.  What fun it is to use up my supplies!

I hope this post gives to inspiration to celebrate Spring as well!

Looking for a Happy Life

Look no more than right here in this blog post.  I have been working on my cards for the next birthday swap and decided to enter the Club Scrap Technique Challenge for this month.

This month's challenge is a stencil challenge.  I had printed off the directions from the blog post and they have been sitting in a pile for months.  You can find the blog post here

This is one of my favorite techniques as I absolutely love the Club Scrap stencils and I wish I had all of them! I used the stencil from the Big Top paper pack and added the ribbon and tag from the kit as well.

This card seems just to shine with its bright colors.  I hope the lucky recipient enjoys this card as much as I do!

Heart Love to Pfaff Lovers Around the World

Here is my inspiration for the heart design that I worked on during the week for a table topper that I found on Pinterest.  Rather than use the charm square blocks for the center, I decided to create this Heart using the Word Sculpt feature in Premier+ 2 Ultra.

There is actually a sample heart design in the software but it was stitched out using the Grand Hoop and too large for my 8 1/2" center block.  So I decided it was time to challenge myself to learn the functionality of this feature.

I stitched it out last night and I was very pleased with the results.

As a special gift to my Pfaff Lover friends around the world, I am sending you this Valentine heart before the 14th. You can stitch it out and share it with the rest of the world or just keep it for yourself!  I used a 200 x 200 quilting hoop and stitched it on my Pfaff icon.  You can find the design HERE.

Please do not share the design but rather link them to my blog.  Since I dabble in a number of hobbies, I would like to share my love for all things crafty with everyone.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Color Block Valentine Challenge

I am excited to have rejoined Club Scrap again.  I love all of their paper, ribbons, bling and even their digital designs.  This month they released their Special Edition "Sweet on You" paper pack and it is stunning!

I also wanted to participate in a few of their challenges and one of the challenges is the Color Block technique.  Inspired by Karen's post here,  I dug out my Card Making Idea Deck and found the 5 of Clubs which featured this technique.  My first card went together rather quickly and the next two are waiting to be finished.

Some ribbon, glitter die cut hearts and bling finished off the card.  I am excited to 'catch the bug' again and use up my stash at the same time!  I hope this excitement continues the rest of the year!
